Although it IS against federal law to publicly show cinema, etc, without getting distributor licenses to do so, I've also worked a number of anime conventions that have shown hundreds of anime episodes without getting said licenses. Typically more hassle to sue than its worth. It's like, yeah, you could take someone to court for downloading one MP3 but why would you? Lol.
That being said, at BronyCon we always do everything legit and professional. We have a great working relationship with Hasbro. They've been really great to us and the fandom over the years so there's no need to step on toes now just to show a few episodes, lol.
