Even though the convention hasn't happened yet, I feel like making this post now before heading to the con and getting the post-con exhaustion!
I have been taking my little sister to Bronycon since 2016. It was meant to be a one time birthday gift seeing as she was into MLP at the time. She ADORED it. It gave this little kid a chance to open up and meet new people. Last year she met many friends and still today manages to keep in contact with them and plans to meet with them this year!
I was never into MLP myself, but seeing my sister have three days of absolute bliss was well worth the drive and toughing the crowds.
Sadly though, this will be our last year. Nothing to do with the con, mind you! The kid sister is just finally done with MLP. However, she will ALWAYS remember Bronycon as her first ever convention. She will always remember it as a place where she met great friends and new people. Where she discovered a passion for cosplay and got to express herself in ways she couldn't do at school or at home. Bronycon opened her up to all of this. Gave her a chance to see the convention scene and how things work - and soon enough we will be trying out cons and she'll continue to grow.
As I said, I was never a fan of MLP myself, but for these two (almost three now this next week!) years of coming to this event, I've had fun as well. And I'm actually going to miss it.
So thank you. Thank you to the patrons, vendors and staff of this event for making this a soon to be THREE years of wonderful con going! Thank you for helping my sister to open up and connect with those just like that.
Farewell Bronycon. We'll be saying our true goodbyes come Sunday. But thank you for everything.
P.S. Props as well to putting A TON of activities in the crusader clubhouse. I feel we'll have a full weekend!
