Boy, I have kept my lips sealed tight enough these last few weeks, but the overwhelmingly vocal negativity in the recent guest announcement of Nick Confalone has really pushed me over the proverbial edge where I feel the need to say something.
For the last few weeks, with each Guest of Honor announcement, I have seen people complain. What, do you feel owed something? Do you want to imply to these people from the show, who take time out of their lives to come for these conventions and interact with us, that their visiting and their kindness mean nothing to us, and imply that we are completely ungrateful for what they do?
I am so sorry I am exploding a bit like this, but I am truly ashamed in the behavior of people both on this board and on Twitter whenever they announce GoH for this year's convention. It's just deplorable. How do you think people like Nick Confalone or Jay Fosgitt feel when they see their name being announced and being greeted with messages from fans going "Oh, ______ is coming..."
I understand you guys are excited, as I have always been for this convention that means a ton to me just as well. However, if you're going to let guest announcements that don't excite you sour the entire convention for you and feel the need to attack the people who are being gracious enough to appear at a convention that they don't need to attend, I seriously recommend you check your priorities.
Again, sorry for the explosion here, but if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
