Wow!!! So many amazing stories I just read! From the then-bully-now-brony to the father turned by the daughter, haha! That inspires me to tell mine, let me see how well I can remember...
I had a job as a journalist in a technology blog and, when riding a bus to an event, a friend from the office told me about these weird guys who liked My Little Pony and gathered at cons; I think it was 2012. Of course, I thought she was talking about the 80's MLP, so that made it even weirder. Days later, I found a Doctor Whoves vinyl figure while surfing through Amazon and, since she and I were huge Doctor Who fans, I sent the photo to her just to keep mocking about it.
Since then, I began noticing MLP more often around the net and realized it was actually a whole new show that was causing all the fuzz. Months later, early 2013, I learned that my niece loved the show, and some positive comments I read here and there got me intrigued. Why are people getting hooked into it? "Then it must be a good thing!", I thought.
I gathered some strength and will, and finally decided to watch the first two episodes one night on my phone (those times were every episode was uploaded to YouTube). I quite liked it!
Then I continued watching one or two episodes per night. I was hooked.
Then I got to the Winter Wrap Up episode. Click! I fell in love with the show.
Then I got to The Cutie Mark Chronicles episode. I concluded: That was GREAT screenwriting! And since I am an aspiring filmmaker and writer, I began appreciating it also as a amazing piece of content.
And here am I, writing to you 5 years later, having bought some merch, being up to date with the show and also traveled 3,000 km from Mexico City to Baltimore just to attend my first (and surely not last) BronyCon.
So... To be continued... LOL
