Some personal advice on this one: do not go into this looking to start a convention, aim for holding a really kick ass meet up first. If the demand is there and you find your attendance keeps growing, then scale up your event. Just because you build it doesn’t mean they’ll come. (There’s no way their Kickstarter raised enough for the BCC or even that guest list.)
There’s a lot that goes into hosting a multi-thousand person convention many people never consider. You really need to make sure you have someone on board with direct experience spinning up a corporation, venue/hotel contracts, handling unions, vip negotiations, AV/decorator rental, security/insurance/crowd control, a working understanding of event finances, and all the other smaller details too numerous to list… otherwise you’re likely setting up your attendees for a rough experience.
You're welcome to continue this discussion here for now though please hold off on any fundraiser/GoFundMe talk as solicitation isn’t okay on here. Also a friendly heads up we'll be clearing out non-2019 threads during maintenance at the end of the month so you may want to connect on another platform sooner than later.
