I just want to say that I am not trying to cause a fight or make drama on this thread, my only intentions are to hear peoples' opinions and have a discussion on this topic, and I apologize if it seems as if I'm attacking people, or being too aggressive. I respond to people because i want to go further into this, and it upsets me that people make decisions for everyone as a whole without regarding the opinions of the people who do not talk. This is a very important topic to us, and I do not want it to change.
That is exactly why I love it! It's just sad that many fandoms and other groups despise and continually hate bronies, due to the loudest few. BronyCon IS our safe haven, but if you add more and more, it may not be nearly as much as a family of Bronies. Let's be honest here, bronies are one of the most hated groups outside our fandom, and with that comes some challenges. while some may not be serious, some will. For example, at Anthrocon, a big convention for furries, somebody tried to use poisonous gas on the convention to kill them, if that is not hatred, I do not know what is. We more than likely would never have to deal with that in particular, it is not a light burden to take.
Even adding Steven Universe and Undertale will, by definition, create a divide between people who like and dislike those other fandoms, whether it be serious or not. That, to me, is where smaller, multi-fandom, cons fit better because there can be a meetup of certain groups, and you could find anybody! At a con for a certain group, will not be easier at all. The big name cons, Anthrocon, Bronycon Otakon, E3 (now opening it's doors to the public), are aimed at a certain demographic and series, art, etc. The "smaller fandoms" are, to me, in a different category. These smaller groups are "smaller groups, because they are side-interests of all of fans of the five biggest fandoms: bronies, furries, anime-fans, comic and science fiction fans, and gamers. The smaller fandoms are: Steven Universe, Undertale, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Pokemon, etc... Groups like these have had cons and work, like Minecon and RTX, and sure, the biggest cons promote people having costumes as them, but for Bronycon, the con is for bronies, and that is why people go there in the first place. I'm not going after those groups, and I full-heartedly support cons for those other groups, but there are cons for all groups, and that are probably cheaper, but Bronycon is BRONYcon.
